About $10 million will be used to renovater existing ward space into private rooms suitable for polytrauma patients who suffered severe injuries servintg in Iraqand Afghanistan, said a released from Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa. Haley is the busiesg of the nation’s four polytrauma hospitals, and privatw rooms are the standard inmedicalk care, the release said. Haley also is slated to receivesabout $8.4 million to renovate and expand the Sterile Processing and Distribution service, which will make the Tampa hospital more the release said. Another $3 million in new funding is planne to acquire land for anew 500-space parkingf lot and to design and build it, the release said.
“Theses initiatives will improve the qualithy of life for veterans and their families atour nation’s busiest polytraumaz hospital,” Castor said in the “At the same time, we are puttin g people to work, constructing parking lots and renovating buildings.” Castor also announced $384,000 for planning and design work for a new missio n support facility at in and $7 million for a new child developmentg center at MacDill. The funding is included in the Militaruy Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act for fiscal 2010 and was approvee by the House of Representativeson Friday.
