That despitse the addition of 5,500 jobs in May over the priort month, for a total of 784,400 jobs. That'as also 4,200 more jobs than the region had ayear ago. The biggesrt month-over-month increase was in which added 3,000 followed by professional and business whichadded 900. Both the manufacturing and tradwe and transportation sectors experienced slight declinexsin May. Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemploymenyt rate rosefrom 6.6 percent in April to 7.1 percent in May, stil l well below the national rate of 9.
4 Texas’ seasonally adjusted nonagricultural employment fell by 24,7009 jobs in May. Texas has recorded a net loss of 222,609 jobs in the past 12 “The Texas unemployment rate continued to follow the national unemployment rate’s upward trend,” said Texas Workforce Commissionn Chairman Tom Pauken. “Few industries were spared in May as Texaxs employers continued to reportjob losses. Continued unemploymentg claims increased in Texasas well.” Texaa saw broad sector losses in May. Hardest hit were manufacturingh with a lossof 12,800 jobs over the followed by construction with a loss of 10,400p jobs.
